Cohostel Bandra – Stay Well and Explore Mumbai

Why staying in hostel is the best experience ?

My experience of extensive travelling has taught me the importance of staying in a good and comfortable place. A lot of people ask me how do you find a good place to stay. My response is that it is not about finding a good place to stay, it is about what you are looking for.

For me the best part about traveling has always been staying in hostels. Now why is it the best part. I can’t really put into words how much personal growth I have received just by staying in different hostels in various parts of India. The hostel culture has emerged and booming in in India.

I decided to head over to Mumbai for a short trip to destress. I needed to stay somewhere for about a week.. As accommodation is really expensive in Mumbai and due to my love for hostels, I opted for Cohostel which was situated near to Linking road. I walked in around 3 am in the morning and Ayush – Front desk manager was awake to welcome me. He told me to get some sleep and we can complete the formalities in the morning. I stayed with them for 6 days in total had a wonderful time. The people there were warm and loving. My stay was beyond expectation. We went food exploring, shopping and just walked around Marine drive enjoying the evening breeze.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The girls dormitory door is password protected as well as the main door. In total they have 6 big rooms with attached bathrooms. All the rooms had AC in it. The beds have charging point and a lamp so that you can work as long as you want without disturbing others.

Daily cleaning is at 11am for all the rooms and bathrooms. They have a huge terrace cum dining place. They have an open kitchen that can be used. They also have a chef and fixed menu so you can order food as per your choice. They provide complementary breakfast for all. The terrace is also used as an activity area. During my stay, we had a movie night and was a lot of fun. I even celebrated my birthday in Cohostel. It felt like I was at home with family. I cant wait to go back.

Here is what founder member had to say –

The idea behind the hostel was to create a social space for like-minded travellers to stay, meet, make friends and chill out. The best place to create such a space was the liveliest part of Mumbai in Bandra. In Mumbai, Cohostel is located in a private villa in the heritage, Indo-Portuguese style village of Ranwar. It’s a 5-10 minute walk from the sea-front and equally close to the shopping district as well as the nightlife spots. The thoughtfully designed dorms at Cohostel have a capacity of 6 with an attached washroom. Each of the air-conditioned bunks is 3 feet wide and is equipped with a 6” thick mattresses, premium linen, reading lights, and 2 sockets. The rooftop terrace has a cafe, along-with a library and reading zone paired with board games. To build on our concept of social space, we have curated a line-up of events on our rooftop area. We regularly host stand-up shows, music and poetry evenings, story-telling sessions, yoga & dance workshops, movie screenings, quiz and game evenings and more.

The idea here is to bring the hostel lites together and create an atmosphere to break the ice as well as bring live entertainment to this audience. On our plans, we are definitely looking at taking this brand and concept to more cities.
