Update on my Recurrent Depressive Disorder.
Two years down and counting.
What did you think? What Depression would look like?

For many people, including me the concept of self-love is an overblown theory that has been ignored often. People aspire to be perfect and perfectionism is considered a greater asset or attribute than self-love. When we talk about self-love, it is easy to picture someone reading self-help books or hugging a tree; but self-love is much more than that. A lot of studies have shown that self-love is the key to mental wellbeing and it keeps depression and anxiety at bay.
Modern society is shaped in such a way that we are sort of bound to constantly compete against each other, or even ourselves. We are always trying to reach our short-term goals and trying to better ourselves to match the expectations set upon us by society. Many of us are guilty of working long hours and getting less sleep each night; we travel the extra mile and feel content that we have achieved perfectionism. We grind in and out every week; even during the weekend 'relaxing' and 'having a good time' seems like a chore.
As a consequence, we end up being too hard on ourselves.
Self-love is not being selfish; it is just putting yourself first and not being too tough on yourself. So next time you hear that little voice in your head telling you that you are not good enough or that you cannot afford to make mistakes; just ignore it.

Why Life Is So Precious

Today, right now, at this very moment, people are enduring a tremendous amount of strife. Not just afar in places like Syria or North Korea, but in our very own backyards. When you stop to think about it for a moment, there is an enormous amount of pain and suffering happening everywhere. The sheer enormity of it all can certainly feel overwhelming.

However, the plight of others should remind us about the importance of the simple beauties and treasures in our own lives. Instead of looking to the haves, we must look to the have-nots as a reminder of what we do have rather than what we don’t have.

Being 6 feet above ground is an important distinction to make. It’s an awareness that will give you perspective on life and all the things around you. There are billions of souls on this planet just trying to make it in life and are so immersed in their goals or problems that they never actually stop to realize that they’re alive right now. You’re still here and you have the chance to make the most of it right now and be happy in this very moment, not at some point down the line.

The Bara Imambara, Lucknow

Lucknow, the capital of the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is a modern city that can boast of having magnificent historical monuments. Situated at the banks of river Gomti, a tributary of the Ganga, Lucknow is known for its gardens, parks, and unique archaeological monuments. Famous as the city of Nawabs, Lucknow has retained its charm as a bastion of culinary and cultural delights. The people of this city are known for their exquisite charm, courtesy, and flair for the Urdu language.

The city is home to 'Bara Imambara', a historical edifice with such marvelous architecture that even modern architects seem to be perplexed by its design. The Imambara was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1784 and its designer was Kifayat-ullah who is said to be a relative of the architect of the Taj Mahal. Built by the Nawab in a famine relief program, this fort-like huge, and elegant structure is also called Asafai Imambara. The structure shows the mixture of Rajput and Mughal architectures with Gothic influences. The Bara Imambara is an interesting building. It is neither a mosque, nor a mausoleum, but a huge building having interesting elements within it. The construction of the halls and the use of vaults show a strong Islamic influence.

The Bara Imambara is a great hall built at the end of a spectacular courtyard approached through two magnificent triple-arched gateways. The central hall of the Imambara is almost 50 meters in length and 16-meter wide. The ceiling of this columnless hall is more than 15-meter high. The hall is one of the largest of its kind in the world without any external support of wood, iron, or stone beams. Hence, it is viewed as a unique achievement of architecture. The building, which consists of three huge halls, has an amazing maze of corridors hidden in between its walls that are about 20 feet thick. This dense, dark maze called the 'bhul bhulaiya' is to be explored only if you are strong-hearted.
The help of an "approved" guide is recommended if one wants a tour of the secret labyrinth without getting lost.

Life in an Indian village is not a walk in the park by any means. Farming and agriculture are one of the most difficult jobs. The Indian farmer, in particular, is a hardworking and diligent man. The land and the crops need close attention and efforts day and night for a successful harvest. A farmer usually starts his day before the sun's up and works throughout the day. His work involves a labor manual labor and persistence. A lot of the farmers do not enjoy the luxury of machines or tractors and have to rely on intense manual labor. Rain or shine, they can never t, take a day off and even after all these efforts and sacrifices, the financial condition of farmers in India remains very poor. The rising cost of living, frequent crop failures due to climate changes, insufficient support from t, the government, and many other factors are contributing to their woes. India, in fact, also faces the shameful problem of rising farmer suicides as well. Although, since independence, our government has made many efforts to provide the villages with basic infrastructure facilities, one major disadvantage of living in an Indian village is the lack of infrastructure. The houses in most of the villagers in the country still have thatched roofs and are made of mud or clay. These are not permanent structures. There is maybe one school and one hospital shared by 3-4 small villages. The roads, too, are not well maintained,d and usually the villages are not well connected. Transportation facilities are also generally lacking and inadequate. But it is the grit and spirit of the hardworking villagers that are inspiring. Despite all the ese hardships, they follow the path of honesty and lead a simple and virtuous life e. They have an extreme regard for the movement and the traditions of our country. Indian villages have a rich history of culture and tradition. Art is celebrated in the form of dance, songs, Some Infact, some of our most famous dance forms and songs come to us from these traditions practiced in various villages from India. Our villages may lack modern infrastructure, but these are the places where we can find the true spirit of India.

The empowerment and autonomy of women and the improvement of their political, social, economic, and health status is a highly important end in itself. Also, it is essential for the achievement of sustainable development. The full participation and partnership of both women and men are required in productive and reproductive life, including shared responsibilities for the care and nurturing of children and maintenance of the household. In all parts of the world, women are facing threats to their lives, health, and well-being as a result of being overburdened with work and of their lack of power and influence. In most regions of the world, women receive less formal education than men, and at the same time, women's knowledge, abilities, and coping mechanisms often go unrecognized. The power relations that impede women's attainment of healthy and fulfilling lives operate at many levels of society, from the most personal to the highly public. Achieving change requires policy and program actions that will improve women's access to secure livelihoods and economic resources, alleviate their extreme responsibilities about housework, remove legal impediments to their participation in public life, and raise social awareness through effective programs of education and mass communication. Also, improving the status of women enhances their decision-making capacity at all levels in all spheres of life, especially in the area of sexuality and reproduction. This, in turn, is essential for the long-term success of population programs. Experience shows that population and development programs are most effective when steps have simultaneously been taken to improve the status of women.
