Let’s Cook Kerala Style Potatoes Mezhukkupuratti


  • Potato – 500 gms, cut into small pieces
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2tsp
  • Onion – sliced onion
  • Coconut flakes – 2tsp
  • Green Chillies – 3
  • Coconut Oil – 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – few
  • Curry Leaves – a handful
  • Crushed red chilly, garlic, shallots, peppercorn.
  • Salt as per taste


Half cook the potatoes with turmeric powder and salt. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the mustard seeds and curry leaves till it starts to splutter. Add sliced onion, coconut flakes and crushed masala add the half-cooked potatoes and green chillies. Simmer until dry. Transfer to a serving dish. Serve hot with plain rice and sambar.
